Flowers in Pulo Village

A few days ago, we had a short trip to Garut, West Java, Indonesia. We only visited one place there, Cangkuang Lake. Using rented bamboo raft, we crossed the lake to reach the small island that located right at the center of the lake.

On this small island, we saw an ancient temple and a small village that contains only six houses. In the front of these houses, there are flowering plants that grow beautifully. Do you know the flower’s name?

Family Favourite Getaways in Australia

When it comes to taking a family holiday in Australia—or anywhere for that matter—there are a few things you need to taker into consideration. Whether you’re looking for accommodation in Ballarat or Broome, Sydney or the South Coast, one of the key factors in choosing a place to stay has to be its suitability for everyone in the family—not just the parents or the children. Luckily, there are great family destinations all over the country, so it’s not too difficult to find somewhere to suit your family.

The criteria for selecting a truly family friendly holiday is as follows:

1.
Are there activities that the entire family can get involved in?
2.
Is it safe for children/child friendly?
3.
Is it somewhere that the kids don’t have to be kept on a tight leash?
4.
Is it economical for the entire family?

The following is a list of a few great Aussie destinations that meet all of the criteria and provide a brilliant getaway for the entire family.

Stradbroke Island

If you want all the sun, surf and sand of a Gold Coast holiday but you’re not too keen on the crowds or the cost, head to Stradbroke Island. It’s located about 30km off the Gold Coast, and it’s the perfect place to let the kids roam free and have a little bit of much needed r&r for mum and dad! The island boasts a whole range of outdoor-loving activities such as four-wheel-driving adventures, sandboarding, surfing, fishing, swimming and snorkeling.

With the laidback feel of island life and the stunning natural beauty surrounding you, Stradbroke Island is bound to become a family favourite in no time.

South Coast NSW

If you’re after laidback family fun, you really can’t go past the South Coast of NSW. Dotted with quaint coastal villages and plenty of opportunities for the whole family to have a good time, it won’t cost you a fortune, either.

One of the best things about the South Coast is that there are a lot of holiday homes available for rent, which means that you can have your own space as a family, and save on food and accommodation in the bargain!

Ski-Fields

If you’re looking for something entirely different to the usual Aussie family getaway, one of the country’s ski regions might be a good idea. While it might be a bit more expensive, it’s an opportunity to really think outside the family holiday box and give the kids an experience they’ll never forget!

One of the greatest aspects of a holiday in the skifields is that there are plenty of options for kids in terms of ski-school and snow activities, so you can spend some quality family fun together, as well as letting the kids go off and have fun while you hit the slopes! Don’t worry if you’ve never skied before—that’s what lessons are for!

Wherever you go on holiday with your family, the important thing is that it is a relaxing holiday for the whole family, and a chance to spend some time together.

How Secure is your Home?

Our homes are a supposed to be a safe haven and it is easy to believe that this is the case without ever challenging the actual security that it has to offer. Being able to control who is invited into our homes often makes us believe we are in control of who can enter our homes. The high rate of robberies which are perpetrated every year challenges this perception. This article will consider 7 questions to help you determine how safe your home is:

Are your windows secured?

Windows provide the most common route of entry into a home. They are more frequently left open than doors, but they are also easier to force open whilst undetected. Installing crimsafe in Brisbane can help to protect your windows by making them practically impenetrable. This will offer solid protection from forced entry. It is also possible to install shutters in Brisbane to the same effect. Whatever you decide, it is important to remember to lock windows when you are out and draw curtains so that thieves cannot see into your property.

Do you have security lights?

The front and back of your home should be covered by motion sensing security lights. Security lights which operate with either a heat sensor or a movement sensor will alert you to the approach of burglars and will most likely deter them from attempting to enter your home.

Is your shed locked?

A locked shed doesn’t only stop thieves from stealing your tools, it will also stop them from gaining easy access to your house. Anything from ladders to hammers can provide the burglar with the tools to help them enter your home.

Does your garage have a roller door?

A roller door is harder to open than a standard garage door but it is still important to prevent entry. Do not leave cars on the drive with the garage remote inside. It is also important to lock the door which connects onto the garage from your house. This door should be treated as an external door to protect your property even if they can enter the garage.

Are all of the doors secure?

Most burglaries involve some sort of unlocked door or window. The entry point is very rarely the front door so be sure to lock all doors to the same level and utilise the locks at all times.

Is your garden surrounded by a high fence?

If your garden is surrounded by a high fence, trees or bushes, then you are actually creating the environment that a thief wants. This type of privacy may make it harder for the thief to enter your home but it will cover their actions as they steal, from you. Leave your property visually open so there is more chance of neighbours noticing what is going on.

Do you know the name a telephone numbers of your neighbours?

Knowing your neighbours is the best way to protect your house. If everyone looks out for one another then there is far less chance that a crime will be permitted unnoticed. Arrange to meet with all of your neighbours to create a safer environment.
