Get Cleaner Dishes from a Dishwasher

Your dishwasher is designed to serve you many years and to ensure that all your dishes are clean and shiny. But what happens when one day you find out that the plates, glasses, spoons and forks do not look as clean as you expect them? This means that your machine is not working properly. There are several things you can do if you want to get cleaner dishes from your machine. Check them out here, step by step.

Step 1: Make sure you gather all the food bits from the dishes before you put them in the machine. Leaving food on the plates can make it more difficult for the dishwasher to cope with them. When you rinse the dishes, don't add soap. Use warm water to remove the food. Even if you think that you have rinsed off all the soap, you haven't. Soap will leave a white film on the dishes. As for leaving food on the dishes before putting them in the machine, this usually clogs the pump, drain lines and spray arms. Should this occur, you are definitely going to need a repair.

Step 2: Leave some room in the dishwasher. Don't overload it. If you do, there will be no room for water to reach all the dishes. As a result some of them may not be properly washed.

Step 3: Forget about tall and large items! Putting such items in the machine will block the water. Instead you should wash them by hand. Pans, pots and skillets will block the way to the other items in the dishwasher. This may not only result in an improper wash of the rest of the dishes, but it can also fail the entire washing process.

Step 4: Do not cover the opening of the lower rack. If the lower spray arm is connected to a pop-up tower, then the opening of the lower rack has to be left uncovered so that the tower can move to clean the top rack. Covering this area with dishes will prevent the top rack from being properly cleaned.

Step 5: Spare the soap! It is not recommended to add huge amounts of washing detergent. More soap doesn't mean cleaner dishes. On the contrary, it may make things worse. You ought to fill the first cup with dishwasher detergent; the second one can be omitted. If you want to fill it with soap too, make sure you add sufficient quality as to fill half of it only. If you choose to add tablets instead of detergent, never put them in the soap cup (as it probably says on the label). Instead place the tablet under the lower rack of the dishwasher. This will help the machine get rid of all the soap prior to finishing its job.

Step 6: Before you start the machine you need to do a few more things. At the sink, run the hot water on and wait for a while. Then turn it off. Now start the dishwasher. Upon doing so, hot water will run in the machine. If the machine starts working with cold water, detergent or tablets will not dissolve entirely.

Step 7: Don't forget to clean your dishwasher on a monthly basis!

If you follow these steps will hopefully result in cleaner dishes.
