If you are refurbishing your bathroom, your attention will probably be on the big elements. These are things like your bathroom suite – sink, toilet, shower, bath – and your walls and flooring. Most bathrooms now have tiled walls, as these are the most resistant to water, and the flooring also has to be carefully chosen to be suitable for bathrooms. However, there are other important elements to think about as well, one of them being your mirror cabinets. We tend to simply choose something that looks nice without really going into the details. However, this could be a bad decision, because you may end up with something that won’t stand the test of time.
What to Look for in Bathroom Mirror Cabinets
There are a number of things you have to think about when you choose mirror cabinets. These include:
- Are their materials designed to be used in bathrooms? You must make sure that, if they contain any wood, there is no risk of the wood getting wet and expanding, as this will break your cabinet.
- How do the cabinets attach to the wall? Because it is likely that you will already have placed tiling on your walls, you will need to find a cabinet that uses screws that can go through tiles and still remain sturdy as well. You should also make sure that the screws are strong and made of a material that does not risk corroding.
- What are the dimensions of the cabinet? You must make sure that it doesn’t stick out too much, while at the same time being deep enough to hold all your items. If you do want something deeper, then you will probably have to break into the wall to install it in a recessed way.
As you can see, there are actually quite a few things to think about when purchasing mirrored cabinets.
