Region Inspired Jewellery

In every society or culture, ornaments and other embellishments, play a big role in defining a person’s social status. Indian jewellery possesses a rich history which is popular and available in various styles that changes from regions to region. Also there are various levels of intricacies and value of Indian jewellery, value in terms how much one can pay.

Discussion on Indian jewellery is incomplete without discussion of gold. Gold is considered as one of the biggest assets in Indian culture, making it one of the important materials of which ornaments are handcrafted.

Kundan Jewellery
The pink city of Jaipur has conventionally been the hub for Kundan ornaments in India.  Dominated by the Rajasthani heritage, Kundan jewellery came into existence from the period of Mulghal Empire. It is made by using silver and gold and precious stones occurring naturally. Sapphires, rubies, diamonds and emeralds are the stones used to create a breathtaking stroke of vibrant brilliance.

Kundan ornaments are tremendously decorated with coatings upon layers of precious metals and stone with complicated joint work. Kundan jewellery is created into rings and hair pieces.

The Meenakari Technique
Meenakari is an amazing technique utilised to make Indian jewellery by artisans of various styles. Meenakari technique is mainly used in Rajasthan and many other provinces of north India. A lot of Meenakari ornament pieces have the ‘great enamel’ work. Artistes skilled with Meenakar techniques fuse colourful stones and resources into the metal utilised while crafting ornaments.  This kind of jewellery is very much in demand these days.

Filigree
When it comes to buying filigree pieces of Indian ornaments, a purchaser would always look for handcrafted pieces from Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.

A lot of intricate Indian ornaments have some essentials of the filigree chic. Filigree is an artistic designing, extremely delicate in technique that is made by cautiously winding the gentle metal into a meticulous pattern.

It is a popular style of ornament not because of the creative pattern that reflects in the piece, but also because of its delicate and elegant appearance.

Empires and Jewellery Styles
The style and elegances of Indian jewellery does not only vary from one region to another, but also from one ruling empire to another ruling empire. Every great empire rule in India has marked its presence in different types of Indian jewellery. Be it the pieces which were more detailed in designed or more vivid in colour, or craved from using more or less expensive materials. For example, the Mughal Empire was well-known for the gemstones, and the Rajput Empire were for gentle carvings.

Modern Indian jewellery has taken few of cultural and regional features and twisted them into a new classy artistic style which is liked by urban jewellery fans.

Indian fashion jewellery is much above just a tool of artistic charm: rather it is a representation of godly lavishness and material blessings, touched with latest style as well as updated with every passing time.
