10 Inspirational Image Changes for Spring 2016

Spring is upon us and what better time to switch up your look and try out some new trends? If you’re seeking inspiration for a fresh new image change this spring, here are some super suggestions:

     1.   Lighten those locks

In spring we leave behind the darkness of winter and start to embrace brightness again, so it’s the perfect time to experiment with lighter hair colours and shades. Brunettes, ever wondered what you’d look like blonde? Why not visit a stylist to get tips on the best shades to complement your complexion? If you’re already blonde or don’t feel like a major change, how about highlights? They are a fabulous way to embrace a new look without doing anything too drastic!

2. Get a golden glow

Summer is just around the corner and you might be thinking of transforming from pale and interesting to gorgeous and golden! But if you’re not jetting off on holiday just yet, rest assured you can still get your glow on. There are some brilliant self-applied products that can give your skin a natural looking tan. Alternatively, if you don’t trust your DIY skills, you could book a spray tan at a salon. But if you do tan at home, always exfoliate first. Use a mitt to prevent staining on your palms and be sure to moisturise those elbow, knees, hands and feet before you start.

     3.   Nails – paint them pastel

Pastel shades are one of spring’s biggest calling cards and painting your nails lighter colours is an easy way to embrace the new season. If you want a subtle look, choose pretty, pale pinks. For something a little different, how about lilac, baby blue or even mint green?

     4.  Change up your ‘do

We often go for structured hairstyles in the winter months to keep flyaways at bay in the cold weather. Now that spring is here, why not let loose? If you’re a long-haired lovely, channel Kate Moss and Sienna Miller and embrace that bed-hair look at the weekend. If you’re a short-haired vixen, turn that beautiful bob into a wavy mid-do in the style of Fearne Cotton or Alexa Chung.

5.  Sparkle and smile

Don’t limit spring cleaning to your home – why not give your smile some extra sparkle too? Spring is a fantastic time to visit dentists like those at Sparkle Dental Boutique. For beautifully glossy teeth, try out a hygiene session. If you’re after a more dramatic transformation to welcome the warmer months, you might consider professional whitening. Either way, you won’t be able to stop smiling all spring!

6.   Shop up a storm

In the fashion world, spring is leagues away from winter. This gives you the perfect excuse to go wild in the aisles and try out some new trends. You don’t need to spend a fortune to upgrade your wardrobe and you can save money by subscribing to voucher sites or browsing online auctions. Flick through fashion mags for inspiration and never be afraid to try before you buy! Hot spring trends for this year include floral beauty, pastel shades, utility chic and 90s sporty styles.

7.  Dare to bare

When the weather gets warmer, many of us choose to go easy on the make-up and often, less is more. For a fresh, natural daytime look, try stripping back to liquid foundation, highlighter, mascara and bronzer. Add a flick of eyeliner, a nude gloss and low maintenance smoky eye and you’re ready for a hot date or evening drinks.

8.  Step up your skincare

Winter can take its toll on our skin and leaves our complexion in need of some TLC. Why not treat yourself to a nourishing facial or stock up on skincare products? When your skin has recovered, swap heavy moisturisers for lighter serums and always remember to exfoliate once a week. This encourages the production of new skin cells and gives your skin a radiant, healthy glow.

9.  Hit the gym

Are you a winter comfort eater? Or did you over-indulge on Easter eggs? Don’t worry, you’re certainly not the only one! Most of us want to tone up before the summer. Regular exercise can help to burn fat and increase muscle definition. If you’re not one for the gym, it’s not a big problem - there are plenty of sports and activities that don’t involve a treadmill. You could hike up hills, get on your bike or even practice yoga in the comfort of your own living room. Exercising regularly will also improve your sleep and reduce stress, so you’ll feel as great as you look!

Always remember, it’s vital to combine working out with healthy eating to get the best results.

10.  Be bold!

When it comes to our image, we tend to be generous about others and harsh about ourselves. If you don’t feel like you could pull a certain look off, try to prove yourself wrong. Try on that dress. Work that lipstick shade. Be brave, have fun and remember that you’re absolutely beautiful, no matter what you wear!
