How to Look Good and Feel Your Best While Pregnant

Being pregnant can cause a wave of conflicting emotions. While you are excited about the new life you have started, your expanding body can make you feel anything but comfortable and beautiful. Your breasts will grow, your waistline will disappear and your abdomen will swell, making you wish you had your old body back. It’s good to keep in mind that your pregnancy will be fleeting and there are ways that you can enjoy these precious moments without feeling discomfort. Here are a few tips for looking and feeling your best during your pregnancy.

Exercise
Having a regular exercise routine is a great way to feel good in both body and mind. Although it is normal for you to gain a bit of weight, you can still keep the weight gain manageable by walking, swimming or doing yoga regularly. The act of exercising also helps you to feel energised and feel less stressed, which will help you feel good about your changing body. The added benefit of exercising is that your body will be stronger and more capable to endure the rigours of childbirth.

Nutrition
Eating a healthy diet while pregnant is a great way to minimise weight gain, keep your baby healthy and to help you feel good. Diet can have a large impact on mood, and too many carbs can make you feel even more bloated. If you find yourself constantly needing to snack, the best things you can eat are apples, sultanas, yoghurt, trail mix, salad, carrots, cheese, orange juice, oatmeal and cottage cheese. These foods will help boost your energy and will help provide your growing baby with the nutrients she or he needs.

Have Fun
Going out with friends or family and having fun is a great way to boost your mood and help you forget about the discomfort of pregnancy. Even if it is just coffee with friends or a movie with your partner, you will feel better just by getting out of the house.

Spoil Yourself
There are many ways you can spoil yourself during your pregnant, and it will feel good knowing that you took some time for yourself after the baby comes and steals all the attention. Treat yourself to a pedicure, a new hairstyle or some shopping, so that you feel less like an incubator and more like yourself. Prenatal massages are also a great way to help your body feel wonderful and ease those constant aching pains associated with pregnancy.

Staying Comfortable
The maternity clothes that you wear can go a long way to making you look and feel your best. Empire tops are great for accentuating your curves in a beautiful way, and you will feel better wearing something that is loose and flowing over your growing belly. This is the one time in your life where you can be proud to flaunt a large belly, so go for it!

Get Plenty of Rest
Resting is key, especially during the later months of the pregnancy. Resting during the day and sleeping more at night will help you conserve energy and feel more at peace. Resting will also help to take the pressure off your lower back and feet, so the more you kick back, the better you will feel!

Enjoy your pregnancy and keep these tips in mind to ensure you are feeling good, during this precious time.
